A journey through AI and cognitive science

Research Interest

As a passionate Human-Centered eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) and Cognitive Sciences researcher, I’m currently in two roles :
(i) a European Project Manager in Trustworthy AI and Ethical Management at INRIA Bordeaux: I support manufacturing companies in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region in their digital transformation into AI by offering, with other partners, training, technological consulting, and POC.
(ii) a researcher in Explainable AI, Ethical AI (data ethics and digital ethics), and Machine Learning Interpretability

I make the link between industrial problems with real data and scientific challenges, existing or to be defined, in order to meet the industrial world’s need to adapt to economic, ecological, and societal challenges.

My aim is to make the link between human-centered, explainable AI and inclusive, responsible digital technology.

As for my post-doc, I work with Philippe Lenca and Lina Fahed, both associate researchers in the DECIDE TEAM of the Lab-STICC laboratory within the engineering school IMT Atlantique (Brest, France) and French National Center for Scientific Research, CNRS.

My Ph.D. in computer science specializing in artificial intelligence and cognitive science was supervised by Frederic Alexandre and Nicolas Rougier from INRIA, LABRI, and the National Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN, Institut des maladies neurogénératives). I worked on the design and implementation of interpretability algorithms inspired by human cognition. Passionate about scientific outreach, I seek to contribute to a science accessible to all, especially in very technical fields, and thus inspire and share with passionate and curious people.

I’m interested in the subjects of:
(i) artificial perception of the world by hybrid AI systems (neuro-symbolic) or neural networks,
(ii) human-centered explainable AI (XAI), as this is an intrinsically multidisciplinary subject in which the human is a determining factor.
(iii) the alliance between psychology, cognitive science, and explainable AI as a means of questioning our human perception and intelligence of the world in a new way.

I am also involved in several research projects all related to explainable AI and Interpretable ML:

  • Latent and hierarchical representation of recurrent neural networks
  • Explainable AI for unlabelled data
  • Developmental/cognitive robotics in order to understand the development of knowledge in autonomous agents
  • The explainable AI for mental health
  • The impact of biases on AI models and project management
  • Trust and acceptability of explanations in XAI

I am also part of the editorial board of two French blogs for the general public: the Blog Binaire, a popular science blog dedicated to computer science. I also used to be the editor of the blog Scilog “Mechanical Intelligence” dedicated to digital sciences, but it closed in June 2023.
